Will I be asked anything at Customs ?
Sometimes less said is better. You are not doing anything illegal and you are unlikely to be questioned. If you are, its best not to explain too much as this may invite more questions. I would suggest simple answers such as its a bike to ride or yes its my bike. Theres no need to explain this charity and that the bicycle will not be returning with you. Keep it simple.
How do I find Someone to give the Bicycle to ?
If you look in the experience section, past giveabicycle participants may relate their stories in this regard. For example, if you are checking into a hotel on arrival, simply take the bike to your room or storage area. If you are only there for one night, talk to the check-in desk staff with an explanation. Some people may find this a bit difficult but have no fear, you will find a warm reception. If you are staying several days or weeks at the same place, you will meet people inside and perhaps outside the hotel whom you'll decide to give the bicycle to. I'd advise to make your choice without broadcasting beforehand as a competition for the bicycle may ensue.
Timing ?
While sometimes its a better decision to not give your bicycle to the first person you meet, be sure that you do not wait until the last minute of your departure in some cases. For example, in Resort areas there is security for your protection and this includes theft. Therefore recipients may need your assurance to hotel security staff and local police, perhaps in writing , that you have in fact given them the bicycle and it is now theirs to keep.
Last very important Note :
This is not a charity for any persons advantage except the person receiving the bicycle ! The satisfaction to the giver must derive solely from the selfless act of truly helping another person, and most likely their whole family also.
